Amateur Holmesian Scholarship News, Essays and Miscellany concerning the World of Sherlock Holmes

Couple of Things…

Firstly, the 'final' trailer was released a few weeks ago... and secondly, I've got yet more competition in the Sherlock Holmes blog area as an official blog was launched on the Sherlock Holmes movie website.

A co-worker was offered premiere tickets to see the film when it comes out on Boxing Day here in the UK but like every theatre professional, I'm a little busy on Boxing Day (BECTU have declared it a bank holiday! Not that you want to know that...), however if my local Picturehouse is open on the 27th December (a Sunday) I will see it then.

In case you were wondering why I'm going to see a film I've talked openly about disliking - I've sat through so many bad Holmes films that another one can't hurt and hey... it might turn a few people in the direction of the books where they'll discover the real Sherlock Holmes.

Oh, and one final thing - do you remember when Tom Cruise's verson of 'War of the Worlds' came out? At the same time an independent low-budget more accurate version of 'War of the Worlds' had a limited release before going straight to the DVD-bin. Well, this casting call notice popped up in my google reader so I'm a little curious if the same thing is going to happen here (although probably not side by side with the main release).
